In our opinion the Chartreuse region has been ‘designed’ for lovers of culture and nature. Here you will not find masstourism. Hiking through the mountains and not meeting a single soul for hours is not unusual. In the summer the villa of Saint Pierre de Chartreuse has its famous Jacques Brel festival where lots of musiciains and ‘artisans’ come together.

In winter snow and related sports are the main theme in Saint Pierre. Ideal for families with children: no jet setters, no long queus at the skiing lifts, very friendly skiing teachers (most speak reasonable English) and -compared to other resorts- very modes prices. We have tremendously enjoyed our Saint Pierre Christmas of 2006, 2007 and 2008 - where we had the pistes ‘for ourselves’.
